From 24 – 26 June Paavo Järvi will lead the seventh edition of the Ammodo Conducting Masterclass, sharing his knowledge and experience with four talented young conductors, who will each be given the opportunity to lead the Concertgebouw Orchestra. The selected candidates are Sebastián Almánzar (Colombia), Dayner Tafur-Diaz (Peru), Zofia Kiniorska (Poland), and Swann van Rechem (France). Each session will be streamed through concertgebouworkest.nl and the orchestra’s YouTube channel on the same day from 7 p.m.
The Concertgebouw Orchestra masterclass follows hot on the heels of the 4th edition of the Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich Conductor’s Academy and precedes this year’s Järvi Academy which welcomes 16 conductors from around the world to classes and concerts at both the Arvo Pärt Centre in Tallinn and Pärnu Music Festival.
“As a musician and conductor, you gain a great deal of experience over the course of your career and build on what you have learned.” said Paavo Järvi. “It is important to me to pass on what I have learned. I was lucky to have great mentors – not only in my family. I therefore see it as my duty to pass this on to young people, to share my experience and to impart knowledge.”
