As a sign of our solidarity, we shall be giving a fundraising concert in aid of the suffering people of war-ravaged Ukraine at the Tonhalle Zürich under the baton of our Music Director Paavo Järvi on Wednesday 23 March. The originally planned programme will remain unchanged. All performers will waive their fees. We shall be donating the proceeds of our ticket sales to the Glückskette. By doing so, we hope to make a small contribution towards alleviating the plight of the people of Ukraine.

On behalf of the Orchestra Board, Co-Chairmen Ronald Dangel and Kaspar Zimmermann, Artistic Director Ilona Schmiel and the Executive Board, Chairman of the Board of Directors Martin Vollenwyder and Paavo Järvi affirm in a joint statement that war is never acceptable: “We categorically condemn the barbaric actions of the Russian government against the independent state of Ukraine. Musicians, progressive forces throughout the world, indeed all of us must support one another. We declare our solidarity with Ukraine.”

We would be delighted if you were to come and be part of this fundraising concert. If you cannot attend, you nevertheless have the option of making a donation directly to the Glückskette. Many thanks.
