The Tonhalle Orchester Zurich is back on stage. Earlier this week, the musicians were reunited with Paavo Järvi for the first time since October and able to resume their recordings of the Tchaikovsky cycle, which had to be canceled last year. To celebrate the reunion, Paavo and the orchestra will perform a special concert from the Tonhalle Maag with an all Tchaikovsky programme, featuring Symphony No. 1, Capriccio Italien and the Festival Coronation March. The concert will be streamed live on Idagio’s Global Concert Hall platform on January 22 and 19.30 CET.

Tchaikovsky’s Fifth Symphony, already released in the fall, has received glowing reviews and, as the Tonhalle Orchester’s Artistic Director, Ilona Schmiel, commented:

“Even if direct feedback from the public following a live concert is not available, the reviews of the past few weeks have triggered enormous motivation amongst the musicians to continue where we left off. We need to give ourselves a perspective with the highest quality and full orchestra.”

The streaming and CD production are made possible thanks to private support.
