Paavo Järvi has been appointed Chief Conductor & Artistic Advisor of the London Philharmonic Orchestra. His tenure will begin at the start of the 2028/28 season, marking an important new chapter for the Orchestra, as it approaches its centenary in 2032.

“I am honoured to take on the role of Chief Conductor and Artistic Advisor of the London Philharmonic Orchestra” said Paavo. “It is a privilege to work with an ensemble of such artistry and tradition, and I look forward to the music we will make together.”

This week, Järvi conducts the London Philharmonic Orchestra in performances of Sibelius’s Symphony No. 2 and Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 2 with soloist Alexandre Kantorow at London’s Royal Festival Hall on 4th March, followed by concerts in Budapest and Athens on 5th and 7th March. As Chief Conductor Designate, he will lead three London subscription concerts in the coming seasons as well as touring concerts in the UK and abroad.
